Description

White metal, the e at the end of Fuld NJ-555C-8e, is one more metal for J. Wightman's die pair 8 (Newark, New Jersey; town 555; merchant C). NGC brackets it 1861-65. Per a dealer's listing of the copper striking, these dies name Wightman at Newark and carry the patriotic words Our Country within a wreath. Patriotic mottoes of this kind turn up on many wartime cards.
