Description

ADC-1c-1960D(SD)-58 This is another tilted die clash found on a 1960D small date Lincoln cent. The overlay provided shows the relative position of the dies during the clash event. 5 / 1, 2, 4 The clash marks left on the obverse die show the bottom of the letters AME from AMERICA. Notice the triangular shaped clash mark just below the mint mark. This provides a positive identification to the positioning of the dies. Also seen is a clash mark through the word STATES. The corresponding obverse clash mark has been abraded of that die. The reverse die shows the fold line in Lincoln’s jacket, the exterior jacket line and the mint mark tucked into the bottom right side of the M in AMERICA. This die can be recognized by the long arching die scratch seen from the B of LIBERTY to the G of GOD. There is also a small split serif on the bottom of the mint mark indicating that this is a RPM
