The 2024 (W) Proof Flowing Hair 230th Anniversary High Relief Gold Dollar - 230 Privy is a proof Gold Dollar from the Flowing Hair 230th Anniversary Gold (2024) series. The West Point Mint struck 230 of these coins with the 230 privy mark, all sold at a Mint auction on December 12, 2024. The obverse features Robert Scot's Liberty facing right with flowing hair, ringed by 15 stars, and the reverse displays his eagle with spread wings inside a laurel wreath, both re-sculpted from the 1794 dollar. A modern issue from an era of rotating coin designs, collector-focused programs, and renewed interest in numismatic artistry. As a proof issue, this coin was struck multiple times on specially prepared polished planchets using polished dies, producing mirror-like fields and frosted design elements.
