Description

Part of the American Eagle Five Dollar Gold 1986 to Date series, the 2009 (P) American Eagle Five Dollar Gold is a Gold Eagle from the Philadelphia Mint. The Mint struck 270,000 of these bullion coins dated 2009, by the Mint's figures. Saint-Gaudens's Liberty from the 1907 double eagle, carrying a torch and an olive branch, fills the obverse; Miley Busiek's reverse shows a male eagle with an olive branch flying above a nest where a female eagle sits with her young. A modern issue from an era of rotating coin designs, collector-focused programs, and renewed interest in numismatic artistry. Struck in 91.67% gold, 3% silver, 5.33% copper, weighing 3.39 grams, 16.5 mm in diameter, with a reeded edge. Cataloged as PCGS #404429.
