Error
Description
Doubling shows on the 1st lock of hair just below the saddle horn. Die Markers: Obverse Stage A: A small die gouge (dot) can be found above the D of DOLLAR. A light die scratch runs SW to NE to the right of the 2nd T in TRUST. Obverse Stage B: Stage A die scratch may or may not be present. Stage A die gouge still present. Obverse Stage C: Stage A die scratch abraded away. Stage A die gouge still present. Strong die clash remnants below the ear and through the neck. Die gouge near the throat right of the Y in LIBERTY. Stage C die gouge may or may not be present in earlier stages. Reverse Stage A: A die scratch extends NE from the top of the saddle horn to the E of EQUALITY. A die scratch extends SE from the lower right A of EQUALITY to the 2nd T of STATE. Parallel die scratches run NNW to SSE to the right of the S of STATE. Die pitting shows between the upper 9 and 0 of 1890. Reverse Stage B: Stage A die markers still present. Large die break along the left side of the horse's tail. Reverse Stage C: Stage B die markers still present. Die chip in the lower opening of the 8 in 1890. Pre-die break depressions above the left side of the cowboy's hat and along the left side of the horse's leg. Die gouge below the R in PLURIBUS. Stage C die gouge may or may not be present in earlier stages.
