The 2006 (S) San Francisco Old Mint Centennial Commemorative Five Dollar Gold is a commemorative five-dollar gold coin struck at the San Francisco Mint. The San Francisco Mint struck 16,149 uncirculated San Francisco Old Mint five-dollar gold coins dated 2006. The gold coin companion to the Old Mint dollar, this $5 piece features a vintage coin reverse design from the era when the San Francisco Mint was a major gold coinage facility. The obverse features the San Francisco Old Mint building from the original 1869 construction drawing, while the reverse displays a reproduction of the 1906 Coronet Liberty Half Eagle reverse, featuring an eagle with upraised wings. Designed by Charles Vickers, Joseph Menna/Christian Gobrecht. Struck in 90% gold and 10% alloy, weighing 8.36 grams, 21.6 mm in diameter, with a reeded edge. Cataloged as PCGS #21012.
