Description

The 2002 (P) American Eagle Five Dollar Gold is a Gold Eagle minted at the Philadelphia Mint, within the American Eagle Five Dollar Gold 1986 to Date series. The Mint struck 230,027 of these bullion coins dated 2002, by the Mint's figures. Saint-Gaudens's Liberty from the 1907 double eagle, carrying a torch and an olive branch, fills the obverse; Miley Busiek's reverse shows a male eagle with an olive branch flying above a nest where a female eagle sits with her young. A modern issue from an era of rotating coin designs, collector-focused programs, and renewed interest in numismatic artistry. Struck in 91.67% gold, 3% silver, 5.33% copper, weighing 3.39 grams, 16.5 mm in diameter, with a reeded edge. Cataloged as PCGS #9960.
