The 2001 (W) United States Capitol Visitor Center Commemorative Five Dollar Gold is a commemorative five-dollar gold coin struck at the West Point Mint. The West Point Mint struck 6,761 uncirculated Capitol Visitor Center five-dollar gold coins dated 2001. The gold coin in the Capitol Visitor Center program, this $5 piece shows a Corinthian column on the obverse. The obverse features a Corinthian column with the words 'First Convening of Congress in Washington', while the reverse displays the U.S. Capitol building as it appeared in 1800. Designed by Elizabeth Jones. Struck in 90% gold and 10% alloy, weighing 8.36 grams, 21.6 mm in diameter, with a reeded edge. Cataloged as PCGS #9792.
