Description

At first glance, this die does not seem that strong, however, step deviation reaches the bottom step. There is a strong fluting line under column 3 with strong to light step deviation under columns 4, 5, 6 and 7. The strength of the deviation tapers off to the right side of the reverse. Notice how the bottom steps are humped and corresponds to the columns. The offset direction is 190 degrees. • Stage “C”, obverse is LMDS – small die gouge under Lincoln’s nose. a small die gouge on the B of VDB
• Reverse is LMDS – none noted.
• Stage “D”, obverse is LDS – The small die dot is still present on the B.
• Reverse is LDS – the die chip in column 2, which affects bay 2.
