Description
Strong fluting line extension, into the stylobate, under columns 10 and 11. Moderate step deviation is seen under columns 4, 5, 6, 7 and 8 with an offset direction of 170 degrees. NOTES: This die was discovered by Robert Tingle. This is one of the dies to show a relationship between design extension (trails) and wavy steps. Both the fluting lines and the trails are traveling in the same direction. This was the first die to carry a WST (wavy step / trail) designator.
Die Markers
- Stage “C”, obverse is LDS – small prominent die dot on the end of Lincoln’s nose.
- Reverse is LDS – design extensions on the ERICA of AMERICA and the right roof tip. Notching is seen on the upper terminus of the C in AMERICA. Die gouge in the upper part of the N of ONE.
