Description
The 1997 (P) American Eagle Ten Dollar Platinum is a platinum coin produced at the Philadelphia Mint as part of the American Eagle Ten Dollar Platinum 1997 to Date series. The U.S. Mint produced 70,250 examples, making this the higher-mintage of the two mint variants, representing 66% of production. The obverse features the Statue of Liberty facing forward and the reverse displays an eagle soaring over the sunrise. Struck after the transition from silver to clad coinage, as the Mint adapted to modern production methods and record-breaking mintages. Struck at the original U.S. Mint facility, in continuous operation since 1792. Estimated market value is approximately $2.3K. Struck in 99.95% platinum, weighing 3.11 grams, 16.5 mm in diameter, with a reeded edge. Cataloged as PCGS #99754.
