Description

Doubled floor can be found in the sixth memorial bay Die Markers: Obverse Stage A: A series of SW-NE oriented die scratches show above and NW of the date. A series of SSW-NNE oriented die scratches show on the central bust behind Lincoln’s bowtie. Numerous die scratches run NE from Lincoln’s mouth and chin. SW-NE oriented die scratches show behind Lincoln’s neck. Obverse Stage B: A die chip can be found over the E of LIBERTY. A die chip can be found below and between the B and E of LIBERTY. Die scratches running northwest to southeast can be found along the whole profile of Lincoln's face. Reverse Stage A: A die chip shows between the N and E in ONE. A die chip shows between the lower U and N in UNITED. A small die chip shows in upper bay 3. A series of NNW-SSE oriented die scratches show in memorial bays 2-4. A light series of N-S oriented die scratches show in bay 5 along the left edge of column 6, right of Lincoln’s statue. A series of mostly E-W oriented die scratches show in the field to the left of E PLURIBUS UNUM. Reverse Stage B: Die scratches in bay 5 no longer visible.
