The U.S. Mint produced 601.8 million examples, making this the higher-mintage of the two mint variants, representing 68% of production. The obverse features Thomas Jefferson facing left and the reverse displays Monticello, Thomas Jefferson's Virginia estate. Both mints produced large quantities. No composition or design changes. Struck at the original U.S. Mint facility, in continuous operation since 1792. Estimated market value ranges from $0 to $4 depending on grade and condition. Struck in 75% copper, 25% nickel, weighing 5 grams, 21.2 mm in diameter, with a plain edge. Cataloged as PCGS #4092.
