Description
The 1962 Franklin Half Dollar is a half dollar minted at the Philadelphia Mint, within the Franklin Half Dollars 1948-1963 series. With a mintage of 9.7 million, this is a less common issue — the lower-mintage of the two mint variants. The obverse features Benjamin Franklin facing right and the reverse displays the Liberty Bell. Penultimate year. Production at Philadelphia and Denver. Philadelphia's mint — the nation's first — has produced coins without interruption since its founding in 1792. Estimated market value ranges from $37 to $123 depending on grade and condition. Struck in 90% silver, 10% copper, weighing 12.5 grams, 30 mm in diameter, with a reeded edge. Cataloged as PCGS #6682.
