Description
Part of the Franklin Half Dollars 1948-1963 series, the 1961 (D) Franklin Half Dollar is a half dollar from the Denver Mint. The U.S. Mint produced 20.3 million examples, making this the higher-mintage of the two mint variants, representing 71% of production. The obverse features Benjamin Franklin facing right and the reverse displays the Liberty Bell. Continued three-mint production in the series' final years. The Denver Mint, which grew from an 1860s gold rush assay office, has served as a major production facility since 1906. Estimated market value ranges from $37 to $146 depending on grade and condition. Struck in 90% silver, 10% copper, weighing 12.5 grams, 30 mm in diameter, with a reeded edge. Cataloged as PCGS #6681.
