Description
A half dollar from the Denver Mint, the 1960 (D) Franklin Half Dollar belongs to the Franklin Half Dollars 1948-1963 series. The U.S. Mint produced 18.2 million examples, making this the higher-mintage of the two mint variants, representing 75% of production. The obverse features Benjamin Franklin facing right and the reverse displays the Liberty Bell. The 1960 Philadelphia issue is one of the higher-mintage dates in the series. Denver's mint evolved from a frontier assay office into one of the nation's primary coin production facilities, opening in 1906. Estimated market value ranges from $37 to $209 depending on grade and condition. Struck in 90% silver, 10% copper, weighing 12.5 grams, 30 mm in diameter, with a reeded edge. Cataloged as PCGS #6679.
