Description
The 1958 (D) Franklin Half Dollar represents a Denver Mint issue from the Franklin Half Dollars 1948-1963 series. The U.S. Mint produced 24.0 million examples, making this the higher-mintage of the two mint variants, representing 86% of production. The obverse features Benjamin Franklin facing right and the reverse displays the Liberty Bell. Minted during the post-war economic boom, the final era of silver circulating coinage in the United States before the Coinage Act of 1965. The Denver Mint, which grew from an 1860s gold rush assay office, has served as a major production facility since 1906. Estimated market value ranges from $37 to $79 depending on grade and condition. Struck in 90% silver, 10% copper, weighing 12.5 grams, 30 mm in diameter, with a reeded edge. Cataloged as PCGS #6675.
