Description
Part of the Franklin Half Dollars 1948-1963 series, the 1957 (D) Franklin Half Dollar is a half dollar from the Denver Mint. The U.S. Mint produced 20.0 million examples, making this the higher-mintage of the two mint variants, representing 80% of production. The obverse features Benjamin Franklin facing right and the reverse displays the Liberty Bell. Strong three-mint production. The series was well-established by this point. Denver's mint evolved from a frontier assay office into one of the nation's primary coin production facilities, opening in 1906. Estimated market value ranges from $37 to $92 depending on grade and condition. Struck in 90% silver, 10% copper, weighing 12.5 grams, 30 mm in diameter, with a reeded edge. Cataloged as PCGS #6673.
