Description
Obverse: Die Markers: Obverse: Type I. The obverse is a doubled die listed in the Wexler Doubled Die Files as 1946-S 10¢ WDDO-018. A very close spread toward the center shows on the 4 of the date and the designer's initials. Die scratch NE from right center of the T in LIBERTY. Die scratch SW from left center of the Y in LIBERTY. E/W die scratches centered between the L and I of LIBERTY. Reverse: Trumpet tail mintmark. Long die scratch, north, from the right upper side of the first U in PLURIBUS through the stem of the left lower olive leaf. Die scratches south from the left lower olive leaf and through the olive. Mass of die chips on the torch holder where the leaves of both sides touch.
