Description

D/D Southwest Die Markers: Obverse: A die crack runs NE from the hair behind Lincoln’s ear runs through the upper ear intersecting a die crack that runs from WSW to ENE through the hair and upper back of the forehead and then turns NE through the hair above the front of the forehead and extending to the 1st T of TRUST. Reverse: The reverse of this variety is a doubled die listed in the Wexler Doubled Die Files as 1945-D 1¢ WDDR-001. A Class II spread towards the center shows on the lower right wheat ear and stem and slightly on the left wheat stem. A die scratch runs from SW to NE to the left of the E in EPU. A die scratch runs from the bottom of the U in UNITED SE to the upper left O in OF. A short die scratch runs north from the top of the D in UNITED. A short die scratch runs from SW to NE to the left of the lower 1st S in STATES. Obverse:
