D/D Tilted (Rotated) Die Markers: Obverse Stage A: Die scratch above and between the 9 and the 4 of the date. Die scratch above Lincoln’s ear. Slanted die scratches to the right of Lincoln’s nose. Obverse Stage B: A die crack runs from SW to NE in the hair above Lincoln’s ear. Reverse Stage A: The reverse of this variety is a doubled die that is listed in the Wexler Doubled Die Files as 1944-D 1¢ WDDR-001. A Class IV spread to the south shows on the N of ONE, the CE of CENT, and the top of the T in UNITED. A die scratch runs parallel to the rim through the upper E PLU of EPU. Reverse Stage B: A die scratch extends NW from the top right of the U in UNITED. A small die gouge (dot) can be found under the E of UNITED.
