Description

D/D Tilted (Rotated) Die Markers: Obverse Stage A: The obverse of this variety is also a doubled die that is listed in the Wexler files as 1944-D 1¢ WDDO-021, an extra eyelid south of the normal eyelid. Series of wavy die gouges to the upper right of the Y of LIBERTY. Two die gouges below the O in GOD. Die scratch to the lower right of the E of WE. A light die crack runs along the base of the bust above the designer’s initials. Obverse Stage B: Stronger chipped die crack over the designer’s initials. Reverse Stage A: Two light die scratches below the O in OF. A die gouge can be found to the right of the 2nd S in STATES. Reverse Stage B: Die gouge at the 2nd S in STATES abraded away. NW/SE die scratch through the first U in PLURIBUS. Obverse Stage A:
