Description
Light separation shows on the upper left wheat tip. Extra thickness shows on E PLURIBUS UNUM and the right wheat tip. Die Markers: Obverse: Light, mostly vertical, concentric die scratches run from below the 9 and 4 in the date. Numerous diagonal die scratches show in front of Lincoln’s forehead, nose and mouth area. A wavy die scratch runs north from the E in LIBERTY. A series of horizontal and diagonal die scratches show below the letters RTY in LIBERTY. Horizontal die scratches run between the E in WE and the first T in TRUST. Horizontal die scratches run through the letters T and R in TRUST. A broken series of horizontal die gouges run from the back of Lincoln’s lower lapel, through the last shoulder fold. Reverse: A strong, horizontal die gouge runs through the letters U and S in PLURIBUS. An area of finger feeder damage shows below the letters N and U in UNUM. A diagonal die scratch runs through the opening of the C in CENT. Horizontal die scratches run through the letters MERIC in AMERICA. A faded die gouge runs through and below OF.
