Error
Description
Light separation shows on the upper right wheat lines. Light extra thickness shows on E PLURIBUS UNUM. Die Markers: Obverse: Two, closely spaced die gouges show in the field to the NW of the 1 in the date. A strong die gouge shows below the first T in TRUST. Short die gouges show below the letters I and E in LIBERTY. A series of three converging die cracks run through Lincoln’s lower bust. The first arcs west from behind the first shoulder fold and onto Lincoln’s jacket where it joins an E-W oriented die crack running over the VDB initials. A final die crack runs from above the VDB initials north into Lincoln’s shoulder. Reverse: A die gouge (dot) shows above the letters U and M in UNUM. A die gouge (dot) shows inside the upper right opening of the O in ONE. Two die gouges (dots) show between the O and N in ONE. A short die gouge runs north from the upper C in CENT. A die gouge (dot) shows well to the left of the lower C in CENT. A series of tiny die gouges (dots) show to the right of the T in CENT. Submitted By: John A.
