Description
The 1924 (S) Standing Liberty Quarter is a quarter produced at the San Francisco Mint as part of the Standing Liberty Quarters 1916-1930 series. With a mintage of 2.9 million, this is a less common issue — the lowest mintage among 3 mint variants, representing only 17% of total production. The obverse features Liberty standing in a gateway between two walls, holding an olive branch and a shield and the reverse displays an eagle in flight. Minted during and after World War I, as America emerged as a global power and experienced the prosperity of the Roaring Twenties. Struck at the San Francisco Mint, established during the California Gold Rush and now primarily producing proof and collector coins.
