All left stars slightly tripled towards rim. First right star and E slightly doubled towards rim. Liberty head nose and jaw slightly doubled. Reverse D2a - Fine die scratches in various directions on over polished tail feathers around eagle's right leg and between eagle's left wing and body. ''Die markers'' - Heavy diagonal die scratch near leg above scribbling and horizontal die scratch to right of right talon on eagle's right claw. DPIS – In 1921 dates were part of the master die so there is no variation in position. ;Emission Sequence :Obverse: :Reverse: Comments: # November 2009 update: Leroy has examined a specimen of the 1921-D VAM-9A and confirmed, among other factors, that the die cracks show that the VAM-9 and VAM-9A are from two different dies. However, no changes to VAM number assignments have been made. Date is doubled, most noticeably on the 1s, beneath the upper crossbar.
