Description
The 1914 (D) Barber Quarter is a quarter produced at the Denver Mint as part of the Barber Quarters 1892-1916 series. The U.S. Mint produced 3.0 million examples, making this ranked 2nd of 3 mint variants by mintage, with 32% of production. The obverse features Liberty facing right wearing a Phrygian cap topped by a laurel wreath, with the word LIBERTY on a headband and the reverse displays a heraldic eagle with shield on breast, olive branch and arrows in talons, with a banner reading E PLURIBUS UNUM. The 1914-S is another semi-key date. Denver production of Barber Quarters began in 1906. Struck at the Denver Mint, established in 1906 from an earlier assay office that processed Colorado gold rush metal. Estimated market value ranges from $24 to $479 depending on grade and condition. Struck in 90% silver, 10% copper, weighing 6.3 grams, 24.3 mm in diameter, with a reeded edge. Cataloged as PCGS #5668.
