Description
The 1914 (D) Barber Quarter is a quarter from the Denver Mint, belonging to the Barber Quarters 1892-1916 series. The U.S. Mint produced 3.0 million examples, making this ranked 2nd of 3 mint variants by mintage, with 32% of production. The obverse features Liberty facing right wearing a Phrygian cap topped by a laurel wreath, with the word LIBERTY on a headband and the reverse displays a heraldic eagle with shield on breast, olive branch and arrows in talons, with a banner reading E PLURIBUS UNUM. The 1914-S is another semi-key date. Denver production of Barber Quarters began in 1906. Denver's mint evolved from a frontier assay office into one of the nation's primary coin production facilities, opening in 1906. Estimated market value ranges from $24 to $479 depending on grade and condition. Struck in 90% silver, 10% copper, weighing 6.3 grams, 24.3 mm in diameter, with a reeded edge.
