Description

The 1901 medal Baker-1832A in white metal is the less expensive version of the Masonic 125th anniversary Battle of Trenton medal. The white metal composition made this commemorative accessible to Masonic lodge members of modest means while preserving the same design as the bronze special strike version. The "A" suffix designates the white metal variant in Baker's catalog. Washington medals have been collected since the early nineteenth century, when numismatists first recognized the extraordinary variety of pieces bearing the first president's likeness as a coherent and historically significant collecting area. White metal Masonic medals were typically distributed at lodge meetings and anniversary celebrations. Baker-1832A documents the continued Masonic celebration of the Revolution's pivotal Trenton crossing well into the twentieth century.

Rarity Notes
