The 1892 Barber Half Dollar is a United States half dollar from the Barber Half Dollars 1892-1915 series. The obverse features Liberty facing right wearing a Phrygian cap topped by a laurel wreath, with the word LIBERTY on a headband, while the reverse displays a heraldic eagle with shield on breast, olive branch and arrows in talons, with a banner reading E PLURIBUS UNUM. Designed by Charles E. Barber. Struck in 90% silver, 10% copper, weighing 12.5 grams, 30 mm in diameter, with a reeded edge. Produced at the New Orleans, Philadelphia, and San Francisco Mints. The Barber Half Dollar completed Charles Barber's coordinated design family along with the matching dime and quarter. The series ran from 1892 to 1915, produced at up to four mint facilities. The 1892-O Micro "O" mintmark variety, 1893-S, 1896-S, 1897-O, and 1904-S are key and semi-key dates. High-grade examples are challenging across the entire series.
