Discovery February 2023, John Roberts III2 110 • C3a (Doubled 1-9, Doubled Forehead) (178) Obverse III2 110 - Doubled very slightly along left top and serif of 1. Typical doubling on 9. Section of forehead doubled in from of eye. Die lump on cap between lower two cotton leaves. Area at D shaped void and under designer’s initial overpolished. ''Die markers'' – short diagonal line in center stroke of E of LIBERTY. Short diagonal line pointing up to left from left side of stem of lower cotton boll. Single diagonal line between wheat leaf and upper cotton leaf. Reverse C3a - ''Die markers''- diagonal scratch through center of lower tail feathers and line pattern in and around wreath bow. Same reverse as VAMs 45 and 97. ;Emission Sequence :Obverse: :Reverse: Comments: # 1879-P VAM-45, 1879-P VAM-97, & 1879-P VAM-122 were all produced with the exact same reverse die.
