=1878-S VAM-99 Engraved Wing Feather, Doubled Motto= Discovered by C. Logan McKechnie August 2006. 99 II 44 · B2aa (Engraved Wing Feather, Doubled Motto) (181) Obverse II 44– Slightly doubled L-BUS UNUM at bottom inside of letters. R doubled slightly on left side and E at top right. Phrygian cap top and right wheat leaf very slightly doubled. Fourth right star broken. ''Die marker:'' Two short lines below hair below designer’s initial M before die was polished after clashing. (This is only found on LDS examples (a minority)). Reverse B2aa– Feather engraved between eagle’s right wing and leg. Fine engraving lines between eagle’s right wing and body. R in Trust broken. Die chip back of top arrow head. Some light polishing lines on left field with long polishing line from bottom of eagle’s right wing down to olive branch and diagonal die gouge on outside of eagle’s left leg. Earlier die state than 1878-S VAM-39. DPIS - ;Emission Sequence :Obverse: :Reverse: Comments: # The photos below labled EDS, MDS and LDS were so labled from the observations made of the obverse. A different sequence would be applied if I had been labeling them from observing the reverse! Very strange.
