=1878-S VAM-33A= Discovered by Mike Emswiler 2012 33A II 20 • B2u (Engraved Wing Feather, Doubled L-R-RU, S/S Notches, Clashed Obverse st) (184) Obverse II 20 - Clashed die with faint partial incuse 'st' of 'trust' from reverse showing in right hair vee of lower hair edge. Fine vertical polishing lines in field at neck and back of cap ribbon. Reverse B2u - Couple fine die chips at lower part of eagle's right wing. ''Die Marker'' - Horizontal line through area above eagle's right foot. DPIS – In 1878 dates were part of the master die so there is no variation in position. ;Emission Sequence :Obverse: 42, 42A, 42B, 33A, 33, 33B :Reverse: Comments: This is the first use of the B2u reverse die with this obverse. VAM 33 is a later die stage than VAM 33A.
