1869 Proof Three Dollar Pattern - J-774
Strike TypeCoin Details
Description
The third and final three dollar gold pattern for 1869, this proof piece concludes the Reconstruction-era experimental program for the denomination. J-774 marks the end of four years of three dollar pattern production that generated approximately eight varieties across 1866-1869. The denomination would continue with its adopted Indian Princess design through 1889 before abolition, making these patterns the final significant experimental studies for one of the American series' most esoteric denominations.
