Fuld WI-300G-1b is brass, letter b, from H.L. Smith's die pair 1 at Janesville, Wisconsin, dated 1861; its edge, PCGS says, is plain. In the code, 300 is Janesville and G is Smith. One dealer, offering a brass piece of these dies, transcribes "H. L. Smith Iron, Hardware, Wagon Stuff, Janesville Wisconsin 1861" and notes a padlock device, a fitting emblem for a hardware die.
