Description
A cent from the Philadelphia Mint, the 1818 Matron Head Coronet Head Cent belongs to the Matron Head Coronet Head Cents 1816-1835 series. The Philadelphia Mint struck 3,167,000 large cents dated 1818. The obverse features Liberty facing left wearing a coronet inscribed LIBERTY, with stars around the border, and the reverse displays a wreath enclosing ONE CENT. Multiple Newcomb varieties. Struck in copper, weighing 10.89 grams, 28 mm in diameter, with a plain edge. Cataloged as PCGS #1600.
