Description
This undated medal features Calvin Coolidge, the thirtieth President of the United States who served from 1923 to 1929. "Silent Cal" presided over the prosperity of the Roaring Twenties with a philosophy of minimal government intervention and fiscal conservatism. His famous statement "The chief business of the American people is business" captured the pro-business ethos of the era. Coolidge assumed the presidency following Warren Harding's death and won the 1924 election in his own right before declining to run for reelection in 1928. This presidential portrait medal continues the long U.S. Bronze medals have served as the workhorse composition for American commemoratives, providing a durable and affordable medium that allowed broad distribution while maintaining the artistic quality of the original designs. Mint tradition of producing medals honoring each president.
