Description
This circa 1867 silver medal, cataloged as JAB-K-2, is a muling combining Jefferson and Webster dies — the "K" prefix indicating this is a Kline restrike or combination rather than an original Bolen pairing. The pairing of Thomas Jefferson (from JAB-26 dies) and Daniel Webster (from JAB-29 dies) creates a fascinating juxtaposition of two of America's greatest political minds from different eras. Jefferson, the author of the Declaration of Independence and champion of states' rights, and Webster, the defender of the Union and federal supremacy, represented contrasting constitutional philosophies that were central to American political debate. This muling in silver represents a premium Kline production using Bolen's dies, combining two of his finest portrait engravings into a single collectible piece.
Rarity Notes
JAB-K-2, silver. Kline muling of Bolen Jefferson and Webster dies. Very scarce silver combination piece.
