Coin Details
Description
This copper medal from 2022 commemorates the events of January 6, 2021, at the United States Capitol, honoring the law enforcement officers who defended the building during the breach. This smaller copper version complements the 76mm matte bronze medal (PCGS #925285), making the commemorative design available in a more affordable format. The Congressional Gold Medal was collectively awarded to the United States Capitol Police and the Washington, D.C. Metropolitan Police Department in recognition of their service protecting Members of Congress, their staff, and the Capitol complex. Copper Congressional medal duplicates are produced in larger quantities than the premium bronze versions, ensuring broad availability for the public. The January 6 medals are among the most historically significant modern Congressional commemoratives, documenting an event that fundamentally altered the American political landscape and prompted extensive legislative and judicial proceedings in the years that followed.
Rarity Notes
