Description
This silver matte-finish medal from 2021 features President William Henry Harrison with the date "1841," referencing the year of his brief presidency. Harrison holds the distinction of serving the shortest presidential term in American history — just 31 days, from March 4 to April 4, 1841. He died of pneumonia, complicated by the lengthy inaugural address he delivered in cold rain without an overcoat. Despite his brief tenure, Harrison's election was significant as the first successful Whig Party presidential campaign, featuring the famous "Tippecanoe and Tyler Too" slogan referencing his 1811 victory at the Battle of Tippecanoe against Tecumseh's confederation. This matte-finish silver medal is part of the U.S. Mint's premium presidential medal series, providing a distinctive surface treatment that enhances the portrait detail. Harrison's extremely short presidency makes him one of the more unusual subjects in the presidential medal series.
