Description
The 2002 (W) Proof American Eagle Ten Dollar Platinum is a proof platinum coin struck at the West Point Mint, part of the American Eagle Ten Dollar Platinum 1997 to Date series. With a mintage of 12,365, this is a scarce issue. The obverse features the Statue of Liberty facing forward, while the reverse displays an eagle soaring over the sunrise. Designed by John M. Mercanti. Struck in 99.95% platinum, weighing 3.11 grams, 16.5 mm in diameter, with a reeded edge. Cataloged as PCGS #99794. The tenth-ounce American Platinum Eagle is the smallest denomination in the Platinum Eagle family, containing 1/10 troy ounce of .9995 fine platinum. The most affordable entry into the Platinum Eagle series. Bullion versions were produced from 1997 to 2008.
