Description

The 2001 (P) American Eagle Ten Dollar Platinum is a platinum coin produced at the Philadelphia Mint as part of the American Eagle Ten Dollar Platinum 1997 to Date series. The U.S. Mint produced 52,017 examples. The obverse features the Statue of Liberty facing forward, while the reverse displays an eagle soaring over the sunrise. Designed by John M. Mercanti/Thomas D. Rogers. Struck in 99.95% platinum, weighing 3.11 grams, 16.5 mm in diameter, with a reeded edge. Cataloged as PCGS #9786. The tenth-ounce American Platinum Eagle is the smallest denomination in the Platinum Eagle family, containing 1/10 troy ounce of .9995 fine platinum. The most affordable entry into the Platinum Eagle series. Bullion versions were produced from 1997 to 2008.
