Description
This 72mm bronze inaugural medal for Bill Clinton's first inauguration in 1993 was produced by the Hoffman & Hoffman Mint. Clinton's inauguration on January 20, 1993 ended twelve years of Republican presidential control and brought the first Baby Boomer president to the White House. At 46, Clinton was the third-youngest president and brought a youthful energy that contrasted with his predecessor George H.W. Bush. The Hoffman & Hoffman Mint, a private medallic producer, created inaugural medals in multiple sizes and compositions for the collector market. The 72mm diameter makes this a substantial presentation piece with ample room for detailed portraiture. Clinton's presidency would be marked by economic prosperity, welfare reform, the budget surplus, and the Monica Lewinsky scandal that led to his impeachment by the House in 1998, though he was acquitted by the Senate.
