(1969)-FM Silver Medal Arizona States of the Union
Strike TypeCoin Details
Description
This 1969 sterling silver medal depicting Arizona is part of the Franklin Mint's States of the Union series, an ambitious program that produced individual medals for all fifty states. Each medal in the series features the state seal or a representative design on the obverse with identifying text on the reverse. Arizona, the 48th state admitted in 1912, is represented with imagery reflecting its desert landscape and southwestern heritage. The Franklin Mint, founded in 1964 by Joseph Segel in Wentworth, Pennsylvania, became the world's largest private mint by the early 1970s, producing medals, coins, and collectibles in precious metals. The States of the Union series was one of the Franklin Mint's signature subscription programs, marketed to collectors who would receive one medal per month until the complete fifty-state set was assembled. The sterling silver composition and limited production gave each medal both numismatic and precious metal value.
Rarity Notes
Sterling silver, Franklin Mint limited edition. Complete sets are more valuable than individual medals. Secondary market availability varies by state.
