Revised 2021. 1N IV 1 D2a (Goatee Chin Die Gouge, Scribbling Die Scratches #32, Clashed Obverse I) (189) Obverse IV 1– Short die gouge on chin. Clashed die with single or double partial incuse I of In from reverse showing next to Liberty's neck. Fine die pitting on Liberty head check and around ear. Severe die roughness below cap fold that caused die to be retired. Reverse D2a - Fine die scratches in various directions on over polished tail feathers around eagle's right leg and between eagle's left wing and body. ''Die markers''- Horizontal die scratch below O in OF and raised dots on left and right of upper loop of right S in STATES. DPIS – In 1921 dates were part of the master die so there is no variation in position. ;Emission Sequence :Obverse: :Reverse: Comments: # Same die scratch below O of OF on reverse as 1921-S VAM-1CE. # A second obverse was paired with the "Scribbling Die Scratches #32" reverse resulting in 1921-S VAM-1N2.
