Renumbered from VAM 14A, May 2024 39A(revised) III2 38 · C3a (Near Slanted ate, Clashed n & st) ( ? ) Obverse III2 38 – Clashed die with faint partial incuse n of In from reverse next to Liberty head neck and faint partial incuse st of Trust from reverse showing in right hair vee of lower hair edge. Three distinct clashes show at Liberty's neck. Very slight doubling at right inside of ear. DPIS - RE2/C4 ;Emission Sequence :Obverse: :Reverse: Comments: # The VAM 39A is an interesting variety. It exhibits three distinct clashes. Two partial n clashes, one right on top of the other, are at the neck. Below the hair vee, there are two s clashes and three t clashes from trust in the reverse motto. They are very subtle and difficult to image. # The VAM Update only mentions a single n clash. # There is a full clash of the designer's initial M above and to the right of the reverse motto d (IGWT). In the image here, look at the top just above the dark band of toning. # Renumbered from VAM 14A to permit clean listing of a die stage with letter clashes not present.
