Formerly VAM-1A (VAM-1A retains historical designation) This coin is a Top 100 Morgan VAM. '''25A III2 24 - C3a (Doubled Right Stars, Hair, D with tail) (189)''' '''Reverse C3a-''' Die break at lower right outside on D of DOLLAR to form a tail. (Formerly VAM-1A, but still used.) '''DPIS - ;Emission Sequence :Obverse: :Reverse: '''Comments: # Later die state of [[1887-P VAM-25 where an exciting die break forms as a small lump of metal on the bottom of the D of DOLLAR. Part of the Top 100 set, and recently featured in VamView Issue. # The "Donkey Tail" is a coin even non-vam collectors want to own. It is possible to cherry pick these coins and they are generally found in VF-XF condition. AU coins are very tough to find. Mint state Donkey Tails are truly ultra rare! # Exact same pair of dies as those that produced the [[1887-P VAM-25.
