1886-P VAM-20 Double Date Discovered by Chuck Wishon. February 1998. This coin is a Hot 50 Morgan VAM. '''20 III2 19 C3a (Doubled Date) (189)''' '''Obverse III2 19 -''' Entire date strongly doubled. 1 doubled as horizontal line well below base. First 8 slightly doubled below lower loop. Second 8 doubled at bottom inside of lower loop. 6 doubled as curved line on left side of lower loop. '''Reverse C3a -''' Normal die '''DPIS - ;Emission Sequence :Obverse: :Reverse: '''Comments: # Doubled ear inside (at least on some die states). # Strongly repunched date after the original date punch was, apparently, crooked. Fortunately for VAM specialists, this mistake was followed up by failing to completely polish off the error.
