Discovery August 2025, John Durham, plate coin Doug Codner 47 III2 46 • C3a (Doubled Forehead and Eye) (181) Obverse III2 46 - Slight doubling along profile at forehead just above eye. Minor doubling at front of eye produces a slight ‘alligator eye’ effect. Very minor repunching first 8 on lower left of upper loop and upper left of lower loop. Most stages show a chip between the loops on left. ''Die markers'' - Strong line under right side of right cotton boll. Diagonal line pattern in D shaped void in Liberty’s hair. Reverse C3a - ''Die markers'' – Several light parallel lines from inner edge of unfeather section of left leg. Line in field under E of AMERICA. Comments:
