=1881-O VAM-65 - Doubled 18-1= Discovery 2015 by Robert C Whitehead 65 III 2 43 - C3a (Doubled 18-1) Obverse III 2 43 - Doubled 18-1 with left 1 slightly at top right. Left 8 with flat doubled top outside of upper loop and right 1 at lower left of vertical shaft. ''Die marker'' - Fine vertical polishing line right side of upper hair curl. Reverse C3a - About ten mostly vertical fine scratch lines in eagle's right wing with one on wing opposite left wreath top most prominent. ;Emission Sequence :Obverse: 1881-O VAM-65, 1881-O VAM-71 :Reverse: Comments: # On the discovery coin we asked for an opinion on what appeared to be the overlaid denticles on both the obverse and reverse of the coin. It was LVA's opinion that these were created as a part of the production process when the coin was ejected by the obverse die. We believe this does deserve some additional study to understand the process.
