=1880-O VAM-42A Doubled 80, Die Scratches Left Wreath= Discovery 2010. 42A III2 31 - C3a (Doubled 80, Die Scratches Left Wreath) (176) Obverse III2 31- Second 8 doubled slightly at lower left outside of upper loop. 0 doubled slightly at lower left inside. Reverse C3a – Heavy die scratches above left bow ribbon, and in first, second and fourth leaf clusters from bottom of left wreath. Fine horizontal die scratch thru eagle’s eye. LVA Comments: 80 O - New VAM 42A Has slightly doubled right 8 at lower left outside of upper loop & 0 at lower left inside. Interesting and different thin die scratches through Eagle's eye! But pretty thin and not visible to naked eye to list as sub-variety but would be useful as a die marker if needed. Heavy die scratches in first, second and fourth leaf clusters fro bottom of left wreath. Made this coins a sub-variety 42A because of numerous scratches in left wreath-pretty unusual! Slight dblg on AR in DOLLAR is in one of the early hubs & shows up on a number of dies. Shadow outline around ED in UNITED is from die polishing & doesn't follow exact outline of letters that die dblg would and not something we list unless is severe on many letters. ;Emission Sequence :Obverse: :Reverse: Comments: # 1880-O VAM-42A and 1880-O VAM-21 are the same.
